  1. Read general rules for Homecraft Building.
  2. Exhibitors must produce a DUPLICATE entry list when claiming exhibits.
  3. NO commercial mixes to be used unless specified.
  4. All breads to be baked in rectangular pans.
  5. All cakes to be shown on foil covered boards.
  6. Biscuits, muffins, buns, cookies, tarts and squares to be places on disposable plates – 7” maximum size, unless otherwise stated.
  7. All pies to be displayed on 8″- 9″ inch foil pie plates. .
  8. Place all baking entries in a clear plastic bag with entry tag secured to bag.

Each pie admits one adult free to the Fair.  Please bring entry to the office at the Uxbridge Fair, SATURDAY MORNING BY 12 NOON FOR JUDGING. All pies become the property of the Uxbridge Fair Board and will be auctioned off by silent bidding throughout the day (until 4 pm) in the Homecraft building. Bid participants must contact the Fair Office (905) 852-7745 between 5 pm and 6 pm on Saturday September 9th  to arrange pie pick-up. Highest bid will receive the first-prize winning pie, etc.

2. THE UXBRIDGE CARROT CAKE CAPER

Open to Professional and Home Bakers ( For Carrot Cake Auction – minimum bid $5,00)

8 ” or 9 ” Iced Carrot Cake, including recipe. Each cake admits one adult free to the Fair on Sunday morning. Please bring entry to the office at the Uxbridge Fair Sunday Morning by 12 noon for judging. All cakes become the property of the Uxbridge Fair Board and will be auctioned off by silent bidding throughout the day (until 3:30 pm ) in the Homecraft Building. 23. O.A.A.S Special

Butter Tarts, no nuts, no fruit – 5, placed in a plastic bag that will close. First Prize will be eligible to compete in the District 4 Annual Meeting. See below.

  • Entry must be made solely by the person entering competition.(including pastry)
  • Competition open to all exhibitors.
  • Number of butter tarts to be shown at local Fair/Exhibition to be determined by each individual Fair/Exhibition.
  • District Competition
  • The entrant must have won the butter tart competition at the local Fair/ Exhibition to be eligible to enter the District Competition.
  • The size of the butter tart must be full size tarts. (no mini or bite size tarts)
  • No nuts or any other fruit.
  • Tarts must be on a clean paper plate inside of  a clear plastic bag.
  • Prize money to be paid by the District.
  • Provincial Competition
  • The entrant must have won the District Competition to be eligible to enter the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Competition at the convention.
  • In the case where the District winner is unable to send an entry to the convention then the 2nd prize district winner will be eligible to enter.
  • The size of the tarts must be full size tarts. ( no minis or bite sized tarts)
  • Tarts must be on a clean paper plate inside of a clear plastic bag with the exhibitor’s name, address and District represented using the entry tag provided.
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place entries will not be returned to exhibitor but will be placed for auction at the convention.
  • Entries will be received at the Convention according to the convention schedule.
  • Judging will commence at 9:30 am. Tarts will be judged according to OAAS Homecraft Judging Standards.

Country Fair Baking Contest (C.F.C.) Contest “2017”

Terms and Conditions (Classes 40 – 42) 

  • All entrants into the contests must submit entries that were made using the sponsor’s product.
  • The contest is open to all legal residents of Canada of legal age in accordance with the laws of the Province in which the contest is located who own the sponsor’s product as of the contest start. If an entrant is under the legal age their submission must be made by a parent or legal guardian.
  • No entrant or any member of an entrant’s immediate family (father, mother, son daughter, sister, brother, spouse) or household can be an employee of the contest sponsor(s), its/their advertising and promotional agencies and contest judges.
  • Robin Hood “Family Favourite Recipe” and Robin Hood “Family Best Lunchbox Snack”recipes must include the use of at least one Robin Hood product. Crisco “Family Favourite Recipe” recipes must include the use of at least one Crisco product.
  • All entries will be judged on appearance, texture, creativity of recipe and presentation, weighted equally. Decision of the fair judge(s) will be final. No proof of purchase is required.
  • First and second place winners’ names and addresses must be submitted.

All first place winners must submit recipe, photograph and signed release form giving permission to the sponsors for use of the winner’s name, recipe and /or photograph in any advertising or publicity without payment.

Robin Hood Flour Family Favourite Recipe National Contest. Eligibility: First place winner of  class 40 at the Uxbridge Fair. Judging will be based on appearance, taste, texture and recipe creativity. 1st Place – $200.00

41. Robin Hood Family “Best Lunchbox Snack” Contest: Best Family Homemade cookies, squares or bars. Judging based on appearance, taste, texture and recipe creativity. Prizes: 1st $25.00 Product Certificate, 2nd $10.00 Product Certificate

Robin Hood Flour Family “Best Lunchbox Snack” National Contest   Eligibility: First place winner of class 41 at the Uxbridge Fair. Judging based on appearance, taste, texture and recipe creativity. 1st Place – $200.00

42. Crisco Family Favourite Recipe Baking Contest. Best homemade Muffin,Tart or Pie in category. Same judging criteria as in class 41. Prizes: 1st $25.00 Product Certificate, 2nd $10.00 Product Certificate

Crisco Family Favourite Recipe National Contest: Eligibility: First place winner of class 42 at the Uxbridge Fair. Same judging criteria as in class 41. 1st Place – $200.00

NOTE:  All items 43-57, except Dill Pickles, in jars maximum size 500ml or 16oz, and properly sealed with new tops (no rust), Exhibitor tags secured with string or elastic. THE UXBRIDGE FAIR BOARD WILL AWARD A PLAQUE FOR THE MOST POINTS OBTAINED IN THE CULINARY ARTS DIVISION.

Bernardino 2017 Home Canning Crafts Fair Awards

Terms and conditions (Classes 38 to 61)

  • Use of Bernardin Mason Jars/SNAP Lid must accompany each entry, as proof of purchase. Bernardin Jam/Jelly award requires Bernardin Pectin package or UPC as proof of purchase.
  • All entries will be judged on appearance, texture, creativity of recipe and presentation. Decision of the fair judge(s) will be final.
  • All first place winners must sign a release form giving the sponsor ( Bernardin) permission to use, without payment, the winner’s name and /or photograph in any other advertising or publicity.

58. Bernardin Best of Show Award: “Best Home Canning” entry submitted in a Bernardin mason jar & SNAP Lid as selected by the fair. Prize: $30.00 Gift Certificate plus Rosette prize Ribbon.

59. Bernardin Jam/Jelly Award: Best Jam/Jelly using Bernardin pectin as selected by the fair, Judging based on appearance, taste, texture and recipe creativity. Winning entry must include proof of sponsor’s product purchase. Prize: $20.00 Gift Certificate plus Rosette Prize Ribbon

60. Bernardin Gift Pack Competition: Best gift pack submitted using Bernardin mason jar and SNAP Lid as selected by the fair. Judges elect winner based on creativity, quality of home canned product, perceived value and appropriateness of presentation. Prize: $20.00 Gift Certificate plus a Rosette Prize Ribbon.

Bernardin National Gift Pack Competition Eligibility: First Place winner of class 60. Prizes: 1st place $100.00, 2nd and 3rd runner up $25 each.

61.Bernardin SNAP Lid/ Mason Jar Creative Craft Award: Best decorative or functional homemade craft made using a Bernardin mason jar(s) and /or 2- piece Snap Lid as selected by the fair. Prize: $20.00 Gift Certificate plus Rosette Prize Ribbon.

 Bernardin National Creative Craft Competition Eligibility: First place winner of class 61. Prizes 1st place $100.00, 2nd and 3rd runner up $25.00 each.
