Demolition Derby Rules Full Size Pro Stock Cars  

The Demolition Derby will be held on Sept. 9th 2017, the first Saturday evening after Labour Day, in Elgin Park Uxbridge at 7:00p.m. sharp.

In the event that this Derby is cancelled, the Uxbridge –Scott agricultural Society and the Township of Uxbridge will not be liable. There is no rain date.

These rules replace all previously issued rules and are subject to change without notice.

General Information

Please arrive early. Admission to the Fair includes spectator admission to this event but does not guarantee parking on site or seating.

Note: As in all high risk events everyone entering the fairgrounds does so at your own risk.

In the interest of public safety, the safety of the registered drivers and pit crew, the Fair staff, all persons are subject to and must obey the following rules, regulations and directions of the Fair officials as set up by the Uxbridge –Scott Agricultural Society. (The Fair)

Restrictions for all Spectators and Participants

The risk of personal injury at this event is high. The Fair endeavours to put in place the current rules, essential emergency services, equipment and restrictions as deemed appropriate.

THIS EVENT IS AN ALCOHOL FREE EVENT. Police and Security Personnel will be on hand to deal with any issues relating to inappropriate behaviour, alcohol or drug issues on the Fair property and the surrounding area.

Security Personnel and Fair staff members will enforce the following:

  1. Due to Insurance regulations, no one under the age of 18 will be provided a pit pass, even under parental supervision.
  2. Spectators are requested to sit in designated areas only, not to stand on the fence line and respect safety zones and fencing.
  3. Safety Glasses and ear plugs highly recommended for spectators.
  4. During the event, which will be deemed to start at 4.p.m., only drivers and pit crew members, fair staff and volunteers wearing the PIT PASS WRISTBAND will be permitted in the Pit Area.
  5. All individuals in the Staging Area (Tower Area) must be approved by the Fair, signed the insurance waiver and wear the PIT PASS WRISTBANDS.
  6. While in the staging area, all individuals must stay in the designated areas, clear of all emergency service vehicles.
  7. Drivers are to stay with their vehicles at all times unless it is unsafe to do so.

Policy Information

The Goals behind these rules are three fold:

  1. To create an event that provides a safe environment for the drivers, volunteers and the spectators alike.
  2. To provide an equal opportunity for each driver to be successful by ensuring that the vehicles are of equal standing for competition.
  3. Since the show ring is being used for equine events the following day, we also need to ensure that the amount of debris left behind is minimal to reduce the possibility of injury to these animals and the handlers. Anything that may fall of, should be removed before the Derby starts.

Participant Information

  1. The Fall Fair, and the Township of Uxbridge and its members will not be held responsible for any personal injury relating to the running of this event, driving a vehicle in this event or being a pit crew member.
  2. The Fall Fair, and the Township of Uxbridge and its members will not be held responsible for any vehicles, trailers, parts or personal property, before during or after the event.
  3. Each vehicle, the driver and pit crew must be signed in and the vehicle must be ready for inspection by 4:00p.m. at the latest. The earlier the better.
  4. Drivers must be 18 years of age and older and holding a valid G Driver’s License.
  5. Each driver must complete an entry form. Only one driver per vehicle. A photo ID is required for each individual registering.
  6. All drivers must attend the Drivers Meeting.
  7. All drivers must provide their own vehicle. Only one entry per person. Proof of ownership must be available.
  8. Registration fee is $55.00 this is not refundable.
  9. 1 driver pit pass and 1 pit crew pit pass will be issued for each car. 1 additional crew pit pass may be purchased for $5.00. Liability release must be signed. ( note age restriction rule 1)

Driver Safety and Running Rules

  1. Seat Belts, helmets, gloves or face shield mandatory. No bare skin. Neck braces highly recommended. Work boots highly recommended.
  2. No deliberate head on collisions or hitting of driver’s door safety area.
  3. All vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times.
  4. No vehicles are to enter the staging area or competition area until directed to do so by the TRACK OFFICIALS.
  5. If a driver’s door opens during competition, the vehicle will be immediately disqualified. The driver is to remain in the vehicle until the heat is over or the heat is stopped to allow a safe exit.
  6. The Fair expects all competitors to be actively involved in aggressive combat. A one minute time limit is strongly enforced by the TRACK officials with respect to sandbagging. Sandbagging will result disqualifications.
  7. All derby vehicles left on the property past midnight will be disposed of by THE FAIR WITH ANY COST TO BE PAID BY THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE.
  8. A $75 protest fee from a registered driver only is required to contest any results or ruling of an official’s decision up front.
  9. This is not a team event, those acting as a team will be disqualified.
  10. In case of an emergency, the Track Officials will attempt to shut down the competition as quickly as possible. It is the drivers’ responsibility to respond as quickly as possible to directions. It may be your car on fire.

2017 Pro stock Full Sized Cars

Vehicles allowed

  1. This class is open to all older 6 and 8 cylinder hardtop or station wagons with a wheel Base of 106” or longer.
  2. No trucks, jeeps, vans, Chrysler imperials, hearses, convertibles, limousines or checker cabs.
  3. Cars previously run in derbies MAY be considered too badly damaged and unsafe, resulting in disqualification. Call or email with pictures first.
  4. As in all Uxbridge classes, a vehicle ownership must be on hand in case of vehicle issues.

Vehicle Prep

  1. Preparation of the vehicle must occur before the vehicle arrives at “The Fairgrounds”. This includes the painting of frame repairs as outlined.
  2. The Referees or Fair Boards decision is final when inspecting vehicles. Do not put yourself in a disqualification position by bending or ignoring rules.
  3. All 4” x4” patches, plates to be at max. ¼” thick.
  4. All repairs must be with stock style components. No reinforcing.
  5. All flammable material must be removed from the cab area except the dash, driver’s seat and seat belt. This includes carpeting, headliner, door panels and trim. All debris, including in the doors and trunk must be removed.
  6. All air bags to be removed.
  7. Trailer hitches and frame reinforcements must be removed.
  8. All glass, windows, mirrors, trim, lights, antennas, ornaments, bezels, interior and exterior must be removed. ( including bulbs )
  9. The AC system must be drained.
  10. The cooling system must be flushed of antifreeze and replaced with water only. Radiator to be in its original position or removed. The over flow tube must be secured to direct the coolant to the ground. No additional protection except stock AC condenser. No reinforcements or guards. Stock type radiators only.
  11. *** New*** Belt driven fans may be used as long as the hood is securely in place. No hood, No belt driven fan.
    An electric fan may be used in place of the belt driven fan.
  12. Drivers door must be painted white, passenger optional ( for ease of seeing the number )
  13. A CSA approved fire extinguisher, with properly functioning gauge, (ABC) must be properly secured within reach of the driver.
  14. One 12 volt battery must be properly secured to the front passenger floor board area in a box. This area must be clear of all fuel system parts. Once the inspection has been completed, this battery will be covered with a non- flammable material, shield to control possible splashes. One 12v battery only.
  15. The stock fuel tank must be removed with all loose fuel lines and straps. It is to be replaced with a CSA approved, steel marine fuel tank, plastic approved fuel tank, custom fuel tank or racing fuel cell. The replacement fuel tank will be positioned in the rear seat area centered between the sides. It will be held securely in place, no leaks, and will be covered with a non-flammable splash cover after the inspection. No movement will occur when inspected.
  16. All fuel lines must have leak proof fittings with steel or approved fuel rubber lines (no clear lines). Lines must be inside the vehicle if possible, secured and protected. For electric fuel systems a RED safety shut off switch, for the pump only, must be installed, on the roof or dash in the center of the windshield opening for officials, safety purposes. The fuel pump must be isolated, and all components covered with a non- flammable material. Any leaks, at any time, will result in an immediate disqualification.
  17. Belt driven fans must be removed. Electrical fans may be installed.
  18. Hoods must remain open for inspection. A 12” hole must be cut in the center of the hood. Hoods must be fastened down in a maximum of 8 places with threaded rod, seat belt material, wire, chain or bolted to the fender. No welding. Hood latches may be removed. Hoods or rad supports may be wired to the bumper in 4 locations.
  19. Front rubber body mounts must be in place. These may be substituted with hockey pucks.
  20. Tailgates or trunks can be wired chained or strapped closed in 8 locations max, 4 of these may be to the rear bumper max. The Trunk can be bent or creased only, NOT the rear parcel shelve. A maximum of 2 spots can be bolted with ¾ threaded rod and flat washers no larger than 4 inches diameter or square to secure the trunk or tailgate.
  21. NO Pre bending body modifications. No body shaping other than the trunk.
  22. Metal may be removed from the wheel openings for clearance. Front fenders and rear quarter panels may be bolted with 5, 3/8’ bolts maximum. No Body Creasing.
  23. All doors must be fastened shut with chain, wire, or seat belt straps in a maximum of 8 locations. The driver’s door only may be welded in place with 3”x3” plates. A 12” x 72” x ¼ max plate may be used on the 2 front doors. The Drivers side is strongly recommended. No channel or angle iron allowed. These will be fastened on in 8 locations maximum with ¾” bolts and flat washers maximum.
  24. When building a roll bar system be careful not to reinforce the body structure through excessive material. A single roll bar may be used up each door frame inside and across the top. The upper roll bar may be bolted through the roof in 2 locations. It may be bolted or welded to the frame or rocker. If bolted 2, ¾ bolts per side. 1 additional bar may be used behind the seat, welded or bolted to the vertical roll bars. The maximum size to be 4” tube, square or in diameter.
  25. Seat roll bar not to extend past the back of the driver’s seat. 1 bar can run down the inside of the door, from dash bar to seat bar. The bar over the roof cannot be attached to any other bar except the rear seat bar.1 bar can run between the seats, from dash bar to seat bar to secure the shifter. Roll bar highly recommended.
  26. The front window opening must have a minimum of 1 bar or chain from the front cowl to the roof, bolted or welded in the middle. An A or H configuration may also be used. This is to protect the driver only, not reinforce the structure or protect the distributor, if used. No rear window opening bars.
  27. A dash bar may be used. This is to be a 4” tube, maximum, square or dia. It may be constructed from door frame to door frame but may not contact the firewall or distributor guard. No down bars. Dash bar highly recommended.
  28. All openings in the firewall must be plugged with similar gauge metal. Large holes in the floor may be securely patched with a similar gauge metal. Do not reinforce. Driver’s seat may be tied to the roof or door post to prevent breaking.
  29. Car bumpers only. These may be of any year, flipped or front to back. Bumpers may be wired in 4 locations to prevent separation. Bumper shocks may be reinforced with 1 piece of flat metal 3” wide welded from the top of the bumper to the frame. Bumper shocks may be welded but not reinforced. Do not reinforce. Do not load bumpers. Do not change mounting system, mountings must be stock as per year of manufacturer. No frame shortening or hard nosing.
  30. Transmission coolers OPTION A: These are permitted but must be secured in the engine compartment and covered with a non -flammable cover to protect the driver and volunteers from hot pressurized splashes. The transmission dipstick must be secured in place, wired down or have an overflow tube directing the fluid to the ground. OPTION B: These may also be behind the driver’s seat. It must be securely fastened and covered completely with a sheet metal shroud. 2, 1 inch minimum holes must be made in the floor directly beneath the cooler. Hoses must be protected and covered with a non-flammable material that will with stand pressure. Hoses must be rated at 2500psi single brad hydraulic hoses with press fittings only rated at 250 degree F+.
  31. Car differentials only. Differentials can be switched between makes. Protectors can be bolted or welded to the housing, 3 sides. Do not reinforce the frame or body. Control arms, trailing arms must be stock. No modifications allowed. No pinion brakes.
  32. Motor mounts may be welded or chained. Aftermarket mounts may be used. Do not reinforce or add extras. 2 additional safety chains may be used between the engine and upper control arm area. NO extra chains, wires straps, etc. from the engine or transmission to the frame or body. No welded links.
  33. Drive tires must be low aggression. Tread depth must be ¼ “or less on drive wheels. BREAKING OF THESE RULES MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. Tires must be air filled only. No spit rims, welding stem protectors, bead locks, fastening of tires to rims, studs. All wheel weights must be removed. Tires may be doubled. NO triple sides on the drive wheels.
  34. Distributor guards are allowed, a minimum of 1” from the firewall. Do not over build. These must not come into contact with window bars.
  35. Reinforcement of the frame or body while building guards is not allowed. Any style of engine guard will be fastened to the engine or transmission only. No transmission braces or aftermarket bellhousings. Engine cradles must be designed to protect the drivetrain only, not to be fastened to the body or frame.
  36. Suspensions are to be stock in design. Rear coils may be wired or welded to the differential. No spring blocks or added helpers. Aftermarket or double rear arms allowed. Front suspension steering columns, steering linkage, drive shafts, control arms, ball joints, rear control arms may be exchanged. No reinforcing except the factory tie rod ends.
  37. Fords 2003 or newer with aluminum cross members may be replaced with a 1980 or newer cross member. All suspension and steering parts used in this conversion must also be from a 1980 or newer vehicle To fasten , use a 3/16 thick max angle iron on top of the frame, no longer than 12 “in length, bolted in 4 locations total, using the factory nuts and bolts or of similar size and grade. In case of a dispute it may be wise to have pictures or identification of the donor vehicle on hand. Do not reinforce.
  38. Differential gears may be welded. Slider shafts may be used.
  39. Rusty or bent frames may be repaired using 4”x4” patches max on 2 sides. All repairs must be painted in a bright colour. A maximum of 8 repair plates to be used with 3” between each repair. No frame modifications, tilting, hump plates, welding of seams, shortening, grafting, etc.
  40. All rubber body mounts and stock sized bolts are to remain in place. Maximum flat washer size is 3”. Four additional body mounts using ¾” threaded rod max. are allowed. An additional 2 threaded rods, same size, are allowed for the rad cradle.2 additional stock sized bolts may be added inside the driver’s compartment on the floor. Threaded rods must not extend through the bottom portion of the frame. .
