2022 FAIR THEME – “YOUR COUNTRY FAIR"
NOTE: Entries will be received at the Horticultural Building on Thursday, September 8th from 12 pm to 7 pm.
The building will close on Sunday, September 11th at 4:30 pm & entries may be picked up at 5 pm.
EXHIBITOR INFORMATION: BEFORE YOU ARRIVE, PLEASE COMPLETE ALL TAGS AND FORMS. PRINT TWO COPIES OFF THE WEBSITE www.uxbridgefair.ca. KEEP ONE COPY FOR YOURSELF, OR ENTRY TAGS/FORMS CAN BE PICKED UP IN UXBRIDGE AT THE TOWN HALL OR LIBRARY.
RULES FOR THE FLOWER SECTION:
- All specimens must be grown by the exhibitor.
- House plants must have been in the exhibitor’s possession for at least 3 months.
- Flowers for the DESIGN classes must be from exhibitor’s own garden.
TIPS FOR EXHIBITORS
• Flowers must have good colour, be fresh, erect - not wilted, uniform in size with strong, straight stems, be free of disease, insect damage and insects. All exhibits should have a good stem length.
• When a bud is showing colour, it is considered a bloom. Number of blooms should be uniform in size and shape.
TERMS:
A.O.V. – Any other variety.
ANNUAL: An herbaceous plant which normally completes its cycle of seed in one year. Includes tender perennials such as Pansies, Snapdragons, etc. that are plants called “Annuals” grown as such in this region.
BIENNIAL: An herbaceous plant which requires two growing seasons to complete its normal growth (from seed to seed)
PERENNIAL: An herbaceous plant that lives more than two years. The stem dies to the ground each fall, e.g., Phlox, Delphiniums, Peonies, etc.
SPIKE: An upright stem carrying several flowers, such as Gladiolus and Snapdragon.
STEM OR STOCK: A plant structure carrying one or more flowers and buds. It may be branched, e.g. Sweet peas, Primulas and Irises.
SPRAY: A branch of plant with a number of flowers, e.g., Chrysanthemum, Climbing & Floribunda Roses, Petunias.
